Things to do in Cornwall – Summer Cob Workshops
Visiting Cornwall is a popular summertime break or holiday for many people. Cornwall has a wealth of heritage to offer with our mining and fishing history, beaches and of course our pasties! You really don’t have to go too far to encounter both the interesting and the picturesque.
Perhaps not quite so obvious is Cornwall’s building heritage. In ancient times, cob was predominantly used to construct dwellings, farmsteads and boundary walls. This age-old tradition stems from the fact that Cornwall has enormous amounts of clayey soils and it’s these soils, when mixed with straw and water that creates what we know as cob.
Building with cob has been our business for nearly 30 years and we have the privilege of restoring Cornwall’s cob walls. Here at our depot, we manufacture cob for use on the cob walls of Cornwall….in fact we are the only manufacturers and suppliers of cob in Cornwall….so we kinda know what we’re talking about.
We are now opening up our doors to share the cob experience with anyone and everyone that either has an interest in ancient building methods and/or who wants to further their knowledge of the historic building practices of Cornwall.
So….if you’re looking for things to do in Cornwall this summer or even looking for something a little bit different, why not join us for our Summer Cob Workshops…there may be lots of things to do in Cornwall….but nothing quite like this!
