CRADLE-TO-GATE INFORMATION (per product)
RAW MATERIAL (Source)
Our raw materials (ie clayey soils) are sourced from large scale development sites and therefore have already been excavated. CO2e figures omitted.
RAW MATERIAL TRANSPORTATION (to our facility)
Our raw materials (clayey soils) are loaded from stockpile to heavy transport at source and delivered to our yard by road haulage. These soils would have been destined for landfill, therefore CO2e figures for haulage and dispersion are omitted.
WATER (mixing process)
All water for mixing is taken from IBC water catchment tanks situated around the yard that have captured rainwater from diverted downpipes.
RAW MATERIAL (mixing process)
Raw material mixing is undertaken with a 7.5t swing-shovel (diesel)
Fuel Consumption = 0.007kg/CO2e
MANUFACTURING PROCESS (renewable electrical energy)
Products are hydraulically pressed in our machines that driven by a 15kw 3-phase motor
Power Consumption = 0.008kg/CO2e
(EPD ‘box-ticking’ would allow this to be zero)
PRODUCT MOVEMENT (x2)
Products are stored on purpose built racking shelves and dried naturally. Movement of products is with a diesel forklift.
Fuel Consumption = 0.003kg/CO2e
TOTAL = 0.018kg/CO2e*
*Our production of cob blocks produces 95% less CO2e than that of concrete blocks
